Around June/July this year Pete Reynolds of Reynolds Valvarts will be hosting Sydney Ampfest 2007 in Windsor. If your remotely interested in valve amps and/or guitars then I highly suggest putting it in your diary. It's great fun hearing all the amps, and meeting all the guys that own or make them.

There is some video of last years event here. And I'll be there with my DV cam again this year.

I just read this article in "The Age" and it pretty much sums up the live music scene here in Sydney. A bit depressing really.

This is one of the reasons I started this site, to help build community around the bands in Sydney. Or at least raise their profile a bit. Rather than just do nothing.

I've added a new feature to the Places page which allows you to sort the list according to distance from a suburb or postcode. Makes finding the nearest store easy.

I've added a new feature to this site called Places. I'm compiling a database of music related resources in Sydney and tagging them with catagories. You can filter by catagory and then show the results on a map of Sydney so that you can find something close to where are you are!

I took my DVC along to the AmpFest'06 and caught some of the action on tape. Unfortunately the levels overloaded the mic on the camera and so the guitar parts sound distorted. Next time I'll use an external mic with more head room. Anyway here is the links to the video:

This Saturday the GuitarGear.net.au guys are holding their annual AmpFest'06 gathering in Windsor. Kicks off at 3pm and will likely go till late. There will be a large number of unique, rare and interesting guitar amps and a number of great guitars around to be heard in action. It promises to be an interesting night.
